Lecture Hall
A room left playing.
Readings and lectures on language, meaning, and mind — drawn from public-domain and openly-licensed recordings, and meant to be left running while you read elsewhere on the site. Press play and wander off.
On the recordings
The hall is stocked from the public domain — chiefly volunteer readings from LibriVox and the Internet Archive — and from lectures released under open licences. Everything here is free to listen to and to share. Texts are chosen for their bearing on the questions in the canon: naming and meaning, logic and language, pragmatism and use.
Recordings are added as they are prepared. Where a track will not yet play, its file has not been placed in the hall — the shelf is labelled before the book arrives. If a recording’s licence ever turns out to be other than stated, tell me and it comes down: mail@takecareoflanguage.org.
